Choosing intuition over advice

trust your intuition to guide you
When you can't decide between this or that, it's natural to listen to (and sometimes take) others' advice. Even when there is a niggling feeling that it isn't right for you. Yet, when you can't come up with a logical reason or explanation about why you don't want to do what they suggest... you do what they suggest. You've got to start somewhere, right?

Many times, I've done that, only to realize that their way wasn't my way. It's not that they are wrong. It just doesn't feel aligned. Even if "on paper" it seems like the best solution.

I know that I wasted a lot of time doing things someone else's way. Actually, it wasn't wasted time. I was learning what doesn't work, which is valuable to know!

But wouldn't you rather spend your energy and time on things that align with you?

Whenever I get stuck, I rely on a few tools. Here they are in no particular order:

  • Speak to a trusted friend to get the issue out in the open (out of your head and into the light).
It's good to speak with someone about it. Just saying the words has helped me understand the blocks I was putting up.
  • Journal your thoughts. Getting things down on paper where you can track your thought process is a valuable tool. Especially to look back on days or more later. (Yes, you should review your past journals!)
  • Use a pendulum or other dowsing method to make decisions and choices and clear up any blocks holding you back from doing what is right for you. Muscle testing (I call it energy testing) is a good way to let the body and your energy communicate, without the influence of your mind.
  • Pull some cards. Oracle is great for inspiration and clarity. Tarot is also good for a more structured view of the elements at play in your life. For me, tarot has a richer dynamic message, especially when used in a specific spread that is themed to get to the bottom of whatever you need to.
  • Meditate to get centred and grounded before you tackle the issue or make a decision. This is the key to listening with your whole body, mind and soul.

It's so empowering to have tools to use when you need calm, clarity and confidence. Sometimes I use all of the tools to make sure I'm aligned with the path I'm meant to go on.

Sometimes it's not so easy and that's where honing your intuition is the magic ingredient to everything.

When you trust your intuition, everything lines up. Even if it seems like you've steered yourself wrong. There is something you were meant to see, learn or experience.

The bottom line is trust. Trust can magically eliminate anxiety and stress. Trusting in something doesn't mean it will always work out, but it allows for more accuracy than freaking out and making rash decisions that really take you off track!

My favourite way to develop intuition is through play. That's why cards are such a fun tool to use. Tarot cards have a framework and continuity in the cards. Which is different than oracle cards. However, I love using both. Tarot for structure and oracle for clarification and inspiration.

When I first started playing with tarot, I had no clue what I was doing. Lack of confidence impeded my ability to understand and trust the messages the tarot deck was revealing.

I wish someone had told me; just use your imagination. Because that's something I'm really good that!

This is why I'm passionate about empowering others to play and learn to trust how the messages come through them. It takes practice. But it's good to have a mentor help you see what you may miss because of lack of experience.
